What is microneedling?

Microneedling offers unparalleled collagen induction by harnessing the body’s innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin as a response to damage. A small, hand-held device delivers over 1000 micro-punctures per second into the skin causing a controlled skin injury thus stimulating the skin to produce collagen. The process generates new healthy skin cells to replace aged or damaged ones and can improve the appearance of:

  • fine lines
  • wrinkles
  • surgical, acne, and trauma scars
  • stretch marks
  • pigmentation

In addition, microneedling is a fantastic drug delivery device. Any product applied to the skin during or immediately after a microneedling treatment is very easily absorbed into the skin rendering it much more effective than with a traditional topical application.

How many treatments are recommended?

Generally, 4-6 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. Some patients may require additional treatments.

How long should it take before I see results?

Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments. Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments.

Is the treatment painful?

For minimum needle depths microneedling treatments are painless. Treatments over 0.5mm deep may require a topical anesthetic cream to be applied for several minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain free.

Is there any downtime after treatments?

Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Patients are able to apply makeup after the procdure to cover any redness.

How soon after filler injections can I have a microneedling treatment?

It is recommended to wait at least 7 days after filler injections so that any post treatment bruising from the fillers can resolve. It is also possible to have your microneedlingtreatment several days before having fillers injected.
